Types of American Standard Lock Cylinders

KIK / KIL / Deadbolt cylinder

Depending on the door thickness, the mortise cylinder can be in various lengths, such as 1″, 1-1/8″, 1-3/8″, 1-1/4″, 1-1/2″, etc.

The RIMO cylinder combines Rim and Mortise cylinders in one lock cylinder. There are threads and mounting screw holes on the RIMO cylinders. And changing the packed cam and tailpieces can change the cylinder to Rim or Mortise cylinder.
Depending on the door thickness, the mortise cylinder can be in various lengths, such as 1″, 1-1/8″, 1-3/8″, 1-1/4″, 1-1/2″, etc.

Profile cylinder
The profile cylinder means the European profile cylinder, including the thumb-turn type, single-sided key type, double-sided key type, and privacy type. Usually, the profile cylinders use Allen screws as sealed pins for easy re-pin.
Depending on the door thickness, the profile cylinder can be in various lengths, such as 70mm, 90mm, 45mm, etc.

Small Format Interchangeable Core
The small format interchangeable core (SFIC) is a core that suits the lock with pre-dilled IC core holes. It is widely used on commercial door hardware such as knob sets, lever sets, panic devices, mortise locks, etc. There are two types of keys for one SFIC core: the operating and control keys. And the control key is used to remove and replace the SFIC core.
Usually, there are two types of SFIC, six pins and seven pins. Some locksmiths are interested in the un-combinated SFIC so that they can do the re-pin themselves.
The SFIC is commonly equipped with BEST keyways or customized restricted keyways.
